These are two melodramatic scenes from two hit Bengali/Bangla films. The first one is from Chhoto Bou and the second is from Mangaldeep. Apart from the common actors, you’ll notice a common formula.

okay somebody is starving a kid..how is that funny? sorry for being a bit of a spoilsport.
Really starving a kid wouldn’t be funny, of course. But this is a Bangla movie, and a popular Bangla cliche. The maudlin scene, the textbook evil shashuri and nonod, the penpenani music. It is over the top and it is irreverent.
I guess either you find these types of movies funny or you don’t. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
