First movable type in Bangla

আজ একটা বই অনলাইন আবিষ্কার করে বেশ ভাল লাগল। বইটা নেথ্যানিয়াল ব্রাসি হলহেডের “A Grammar of the Bengal Language”, ছাপা হয়েছিল হুগলীতে, ১৭৭৮ সালে। এই বইটা বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখযোগ্য কারণ এটি প্রথম বই যার মধ্যে বাংলায় মুদ্রণের প্রতিলিপি (movable type) ব্যবহার করা হয়। অক্ষরগুলো দেখতে  আজ আজব লাগলেও বইটা বাংলা ভাষার ‘গুটেনবার্গ বাইবেল’ বলা যেতে পারে- এটা একটি অমূল্য সাংস্কৃতিক সম্পদ।
